Our family’s connection to rosehip began with Monica’s father in Chile. Monica and Peter built on that beginning with their expertise in plant molecular biology. Today, we carry their work forward in Australia.
Through his work with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), our grandfather contributed to agricultural irrigation projects across Latin America. During his time in Chile, he encountered a rosehip plantation and recognised the potential of its remarkable fruit.
That encounter became our family’s first connection to rosehip, and the beginning of a story that would later bring science, cultivation and family enterprise together.
In 1996, our grandfather introduced Monica and Peter to the Chilean plantation. Drawing on their backgrounds in plant molecular biology, they began exploring how the whole fruit could be used and how rosehip material could be selected and cultivated with greater consistency.
Their work laid the scientific and entrepreneurial foundation for AP‑4® and SUKO Nordic, principles that continue across the next generation.
Sofia, Isabel and Amanda grew up alongside SUKO Nordic’s development and each formed a personal connection to the plantations in Southern Chile.
Today, the family’s relationship with the plantation continues across generations, while Isabel and Amanda are bringing its scientific and entrepreneurial foundation into a new chapter in Australia.
Isabel’s background in pharmacy and Amanda’s in cell biology and physiology bring the family’s scientific foundation into a new market.
Through SUKO Nordic Australia, they are developing the next chapter around the same AP‑4® variety, documented quality and long-term relationships.
